“The international volunteer program is linked to the Road To Be Pro initiative, which uses bilingualism to raise funds to revitalize and restructure rural schools that are being lost due to infrastructure problems or that have infrastructure that is either under development or nonexistent. Our commitment as students and teachers is to transform these lost spaces into environments of peace, education, and prosperity,” said Fabián Leal, leader of Dialogando con el Mundo (Dialoguing with the World).
This event, which takes place from April 27 to 29, includes four Mexicans, one Argentinian, one Brazilian, one teacher from Great Britain, and Colombians.
Leguizamon Franco, currently an exchange student at the University of Cundinamarca in the agronomic engineering program at the Facatativá campus, comes from the National University of the Northeast in Argentina and says he is very happy to be able to contribute to this work. “This project is revitalizing rural schools; we secured donations of cement, sand, and labor. It is very rewarding to participate in these causes,” Franco stated.
Mariana Pereira, from southern Brazil, also an exchange student and participant in this event, says she feels very satisfied because, in addition to learning about Colombian culture, she is contributing to the country by rebuilding schools so that more children from rural areas can study in a safe and comfortable environment.
