International School of Artistic Research

The University of Cundinamarca and the National University of Colombia are pleased to invite you to the second day of the UNAL UDEC 2020 School of Artistic Research.

As with the previous session, the school will be held over three days via online seminars. This time, we will have the participation of professors and graduates from the Master's Program in Live Arts at the National University of Colombia. We will also be joined again by guest lecturers from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, affiliated with the Master's Program in Contemporary Artistic Creation (M.CAC) and the Doctoral Program in Music at that institution.

As usual, we extend the invitation to all interested parties; registration is free. The connection link will be sent to registered participants' email addresses one day before the event begins. All sessions will take place from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Bogotá time.

Below, we describe the schedule of activities and the profile of the guest professors who will be joining us from the Master's Program in Live Arts at the University of Colombia and the University of Aveiro.

September 28

Presentation by philosopher Adriana Urrea and artist Rolf Abderhalden of the theoretical-poetic corpus and the concept of Thought/creation in the Live Arts.

September 29

Presentation of the thought/creation processes of three musicians who graduated from the Interdisciplinary Master's Program in Theatre and Live Arts at the National University of Colombia: “gestures and traces” (Live acts and Master's thesis).

9 am to 10:15 am: Maestro Leonardo Donado (Pianist, composer).

10:15 to 11:30 Master Mateo Mejía (Guitar, Movement, sound).

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Teacher Juanita Delgado (Singer, performer, composer).

September 30

Presentations by teacher Graça Magalhães and teachers Jorge Salgado Correia, Gilvano Dalagna from the University of Aveiro.

Professor Graça Magalhães will give a lecture on the work being done in the Master's Program in Contemporary Artistic Creation (M.CAC), which is part of the Art Studies area at the University of Aveiro (UA). The M.CAC program values the issues inherent in research within the field of contemporary art, seeking to foster reflection on the discourse and materiality of artistic production.

Adriana Urrea

She is a philosopher by training. She has taught in the Interdisciplinary Master's Program in Theater and Live Arts at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá and Barranquilla, in the Faculty of Philosophy at the Pontifical Javeriana University, and currently at the School of Arts of the Central University of Bogotá. Her work moves between the Live Arts, Philosophy, Literature, and Caribbean thought, from a decolonial perspective.

Rolf Abderhalden

Transdisciplinary artist, Professor at the National University's Conservatory of Music; Art therapist from the School of Advanced Social Studies in Lausanne (Switzerland); Master in Theatre from the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School (Paris);

Jorge Salgado Correia, Universidade de Aveiro/INET-md, Aveiro, Portugal

A graduate in both Philosophy and Music, Jorge earned his soloist diploma in the Netherlands, specializing in Contemporary Music (Flute). Concurrently, he studied Aesthetics and Philosophy of Music at the University of Amsterdam and completed a PhD at the University of Sheffield, UK. He is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the PhD Program in Music at the University of Aveiro, where he coordinates the “Creation, Performance, and Artistic Research” group within the INET-md research unit.

His research has been published in Oxford University Press, the Journal of Aesthetic Education, Research Studies in Music Education, and Psychology of Music, among others, and he is the founding editor and coordinator of ÍMPAR – Online Journal for Artistic Research. As a flautist, he has participated in international music festivals, premiering many works dedicated to him, and is a founding member of PERFORMA ENSEMBLE, having recorded several CDs with Numérica, Phone Edition, and other labels. Jorge is president of the Portuguese Flute Association (APF) and a member of the European Flute Council (EFC).

Gilvano Dalagna, Universidade de Aveiro/INET-md, Aveiro, Portugal

Gilvano Dalagna is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Art at the University of Aveiro. He holds a European PhD in Music Studies/Performance (with honors and distinction) from the University of Aveiro (Erasmus exchange at University College London/Institute of Education). He completed a BMus (Classical Guitar) at the Federal University of Santa Maria and an MMus (Musical Performance) at the University of Aveiro. He has research experience in musical analysis, musical performance, and contemporary guitar music. Currently, his research focuses on the career development of performers and

Gilvano is researching educational models to support career development in the performing arts. His research experience includes mastery of collaborative methodologies, the development of pedagogical approaches for artistic research in higher music education, expertise in qualitative data collection and analysis methods, and the use of digital strategies to disseminate knowledge produced in the arts. He has been invited to lecture on various topics related to music and research at Portuguese universities.

In 2014, Gilvano created the Artistic Mentoring Program (AMPMP), a complementary approach to teaching musical performance in higher education based on integrating career management and artistic development. Alongside his work as a researcher and mentor, Gilvano has also pursued an active career as a performer (multi-instrumentalist) and composer through his group Atma Kirtana. In this artistic research project, he has explored the fusion of North Indian musical practices, Western art music, and folk music.

JUANITA DELGADO JARAMILLO

Juanita Delgado is a singer, songwriter, transdisciplinary artist, improviser, and voice researcher. She has dedicated her career to creating musical projects, theatrical works, performative explorations, and educational projects that seek to foster interdisciplinary dialogue from an ever-changing, ever-evolving, ever-moving perspective.

Delgado has explored the vocal and stylistic universes of Baroque music, the music of the Colombian and Ibero-American cultural tradition, jazz and free improvisation to give way to a musical thought-creation expanded to multiple projects of contrasting range: poetic actions, interventions in public space, sound performativities, installation, concerts and theatricalities.

Her constant curiosity about working with the body and voice/sound has led her to work with choreographers such as the Frenchman Xavier Le Roy, Colombian theater directors such as Omar Porras or with the Colombian performer María José Arjona, with the video artist and director Carmen Gil Vrolijk, as well as with composers and musicians such as the Argentine Haydée Schwartz and her chamber ensemble, Pedro Sarmiento, Juan Sebastián Monsalve Camilo Giraldo Ángel among others.

He has also worked with the Dominican poet Frank Báez on a project commissioned by the Luis Angel Arango library and intervened in the work "Formas Caídas" by the artist Alia Farid.

She currently directs the Center for Voice and Body Research, which she created and founded for the development of artistic and creative processes, vocal research and laboratory work, and the development of new methodological strategies in teaching singing and voice. She views teaching as a practice of transmission and connection with others, a powerful exchange of subjectivities, and a living opportunity to build temporary agreements that give rise to creations.

For several years he has been working with double bassist and improviser Santiago Botero in a free improvisation duo that has several projects underway.

Leonardo Donado Sarmiento

Colombian pianist and composer. His work takes as its starting point the creative processes in the field of Live Arts, which run through his life as a classical pianist, jazz pianist, contemporary composer, as well as the works and collaborations he carries out in the field of popular music, seeking new shifts and ways of doing things.

He studied at the Pontifical Javeriana University of Bogotá, Colombia; the Higher Institute of Art of Havana, Cuba; he holds a Bachelor's degree in Music from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of the Atlantic in Barranquilla, Colombia; and an Interdisciplinary Master's degree in Theater and Live Arts from the

National University of Colombia. She has also completed various advanced courses, including jazz piano at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain; and piano performance and musical composition at Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria.

Mateo Mejía Mejía

A musician, performance artist, and sound artist, he explores the languages of dance and movement, articulating them with other artistic disciplines. He is a graduate of the National University of Colombia's Conservatory of Music. His interest in movement has been developed over the years in various settings and with the guidance of diverse teachers.

Through his creative work, he has performed in countries such as Colombia, France, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, and Chile. He is a graduate of the Interdisciplinary Master's Program in Theater and Live Arts (MITAV) at the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Colombia. Both as an independent artist and as a collaborator in creative processes, he has worked with numerous companies and artistic collectives in Bogotá and abroad.

Graça Magalhães

An artist and assistant professor in the Department of Drawing and Art Studies at the University of Aveiro (UA), she is currently the director of the Master's program in Contemporary Artistic Creation at the same university. She holds a PhD in drawing from UA. She is a member of the Research Unit in Design, Media and Culture (ID+) at the University of Aveiro and a collaborating member of the Institute for Research in Art, Design and Society (i2ADS) at the University of Porto. She has participated in national and international conferences and projects, published in the field of drawing and image, and served on competition committees and juries.

As part of her academic training, she received a doctoral scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE), and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (FCG) in Rome and Florence, and a Monbusho scholarship for her master's degree in Tokyo. She has exhibited in Portugal and abroad. Since 1993, she has lived and worked in Portugal.

Certifications

Certificates will be issued and sent out during the last week of October and will detail the number of hours completed, taking into account participation in both sessions: the session held on August 10, 12, and 14, and the session held on September 28, 29, and 30. Those who only registered for one session will only receive a certificate for that session.
