International presentation on telemedicine

The activity entitled “Telehealth, Competencies in the Nursing Professional - Strategic Tool to Improve Comprehensive Patient Care” was organized by the Committee of Higher Nursing Teachers of the Regional Council III Lima Metropolitana – College of Nurses of Peru, in which the University of Cundinamarca participated with a presentation on health care through digitization by the teacher and researcher of the Nursing program, Lady Carolina Díaz Jurado.

The teacher and nurse, Lady Carolina Díaz Jurado, who also has a master's degree in Occupational Health and Industrial Safety, along with Nury Chumpitaz, also a master's degree holder in Health Management from Peru, both members of the Latin American Network of Nursing Education, were in charge of talking about this important topic for modern medicine on September 28 through a Facebook live.

“It is an honor to be part of this event, a very interesting exercise in which we diverge between two sister countries to talk about the use of telemedicine for health care, through digitization, managing to observe important technological advances, highlighting that the skills for this type of alternatives begin in the classroom,” said teacher Lady Díaz in her presentation.

Topics also covered included the skills that nursing professionals should have, strategic tools to improve patient care, and, of course, guidelines for implementing telemedicine in nursing practice.

“We managed to enrich each other from every perspective, such as in the use of applications and technological means to communicate with patients, as well as the new tools for humanized patient care,” said Peruvian speaker Nury Chumpitaz.

For Professor Díaz, the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT) is an important approach, as its institutional policy, "Dialoguing with the World," allows for spaces that connect the university with the planet and its knowledge. "These are international projects that allow us to learn about the different realities we experience in Latin America and Colombia. It's worth noting that in our Nursing program, we are implementing an elective course called 'Virtual Strategies as Support for Remote Patient Healthcare,'" Díaz concluded.
