International Congress and National Symposium

From November 23 to 25 at the Emilio Sierra Baquero Auditorium of the Main Campus in Fusagasugá, around 400 people including postgraduate students, professors, and different communities from the Sumapaz region gathered to participate in the IV International Congress and V National Symposium on Environmental Education and Social Networks “Territories of Life with Educational Approaches”.

The academic event aimed to strengthen spaces for participation, generation and transfer of environmental knowledge in national and international territories, through the creation of collective work networks involving institutions, organizations and academia in favor of the care of life, nature and culture.

For this occasion, the event featured Estela Quintar, director of the Institute for Thought and Culture in Latin America, who presented experiences, anecdotes, and insights into the scope of educational approaches. Academics from Costa Rica, Brazil, and Mexico also attended.

The event, led by the Postgraduate Directorate, proposed for this version, through the specialization in Environmental Education and Community Development, the analysis of different dimensions on educational territories such as: the territory by extension, epistemic annexations of greater emphasis such as territoriality where the vision of translocality proposed by the University was covered.

The thematic tables that the event carried out were focused on territory and territoriality, the body as territory (women and genders), human ecology, ancestral practice and its educational dimension and new territorialities (alternative development models).

In addition, workshops were simultaneously conducted to directly involve and share the objective of the research.
