University initiative led social responsibility forum

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

The University of Cundinamarca was selected by the Ministry of National Education (MEN) to present its significant experience “Social Interaction Projects” at the Second Meeting on University Social Responsibility. The event brought together representatives from national and international universities and academic networks committed to sustainability and social transformation.

The nomination, made by the Directorate of University Social Interaction (ISU), was recognized as an exemplary practice of University Social Responsibility (RSU) thanks to its impact on the articulation between academia and territory, the co-creation with the communities and the promotion of sustainable development in the municipalities where the institution has a presence.

During the event, Angélica Guzmán, University Social Responsibility Manager, presented the progress and impact of projects benefiting communities in Cundinamarca. Her presentation highlighted how Knowledge and Learning Managers promote initiatives for the social appropriation of knowledge, student participation, and innovative solutions to local problems from a sustainable perspective.

“This selection is a recognition of the University of Cundinamarca’s institutional commitment to sustainability. The ISU Projects contribute to achieving the 2030 Agenda,” Guzmán stated.

The meeting included the participation of ASCUN, ORSALC and RIURSA, as well as international experts such as Dr. Walter Andia and Dr. Lurdes Tuesta Collantes, who highlighted the importance of joint work between universities to consolidate a culture of responsibility and sustainability in Latin America.

The University of Cundinamarca's participation reaffirms its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in quality education, reducing inequalities, climate action, and strengthening partnerships. With 83 Social Interaction Projects implemented in 2025 and more than 100 planned for 2026, the institution is consolidating its position as a national leader in university social responsibility and sustainable development.
