The academic vice-rector, Orlando Blanco, opened the tree planting day as part of the University's Generation 21st Century project and contribution to environmental sustainability.
“We highlight the importance of Tree Day and its planting as a contribution to CO2, the main source with all its properties for the ecosystem. This is possible with the conservation and monitoring of the day, recorded by GPS for its sustainability and geo-referencing,” noted Cartography teacher Fernando Ávila.
The University Welfare extension of Soacha of the University of Cundinamarca, organized this awareness day two months ago, involving the Industrial Engineering, Sports Science and Software Technology programs in the planting and adoption, as part of the pedagogical system of the University of Cundinamarca.
UCundinamarca recommends: Earth Day Facts: Why is it celebrated? Where did it begin?
For Industrial Engineer Dubán Ordóñez, “each tree planted is a contribution to our own well-being, thinking about its existence and not the pavement,” he emphasized.
Similarly, the Director of Sports Science, Fernando Ardila, stated, “The body's work requires an adequate environment, with air quality that determines the results of physical activity, so this type of event commits us to taking care of the plants and their liquids.”.
For her part, Viviana Prieto, representative of the CAR regional office in Soacha, emphasized the need to recover the ecosystem and the commitment that the education sector must have in all ecological processes.
