The first conference, titled "Nursing Process in Teaching and Research: Reality or Fiction?", will be held on February 29th and will be broadcast live on the Latin American Nursing Education Network's Facebook page starting at 5:00 pm.
The event, organized by the Latin American Network of Higher Education in Nursing and in collaboration with the students of the Nursing Seedbed, SIPAV and Sattwa research group, will feature the participation of the coordinators of the discussion, Mg. Elsa Corina Vargas and PhD Isabel Beristaín, who are founding members of the network.
The panel of international experts will consist of Dr. Rosa Inés Vega Flores from Chile, Ms. Diana Marcela Vuelve Duma from Ecuador, Mr. Erik Rivera from Honduras, and Mr. Carlos Solís from El Salvador. The discussion will be moderated by Ms. Lady Carolina Díaz, Knowledge and Learning Manager for the Nursing program at the Girardot campus.
According to the Knowledge Manager at UCundinamarca and member of the Latin American Nursing Education Network, the purpose of the event is to offer a space for dialogue and reflection on the challenges, advances, and trends in higher education in nursing in Latin America. These meetings aim to foster the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and best practices among academics, nursing professionals, students, and other relevant stakeholders in the education and health sectors in the region.
She also emphasized the importance of integrating the nursing process into teaching and research in higher education programs. Pedagogical strategies for teaching nursing, its impact on the training of competent nurses, and its contribution to the development of critical thinking skills will be addressed.
For her part, Sandra Patricia Carmona Urueña, Coordinator of the Nursing academic program at the Girardot branch, explained that, “the program has the opportunity to strengthen its training, learning, science, innovation, and technology processes through its research groups and cross-border dialogue. To achieve this, it is necessary to promote the academic mobility of professors, students, and researchers virtually, breaking down the barriers of knowledge.”.
According to the 2024-2027 development plan, Latin American dialogue allows us to integrate with knowledge and scientific networks, such as the Latin American Nursing Education Network. Through this collaboration, various events have been co-created, enabling the exchange of experiences and knowledge, the formulation of joint research projects, and the internationalization of the curriculum,” she pointed out.
Carmona Urueña also explained that the implementation of the nursing process in teaching in Latin America contributes to the training of future nursing professionals with skills for research, informed decision-making in their clinical practice, guaranteeing the training of leaders in public health.
Participation in the event is free. Those interested in participating should complete the form available at the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/eNzePKnScT.
