Promoting ideas that transform territories

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

The institution continues to consolidate initiatives that connect knowledge with innovation and regional development. Through the Digital Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Business Management (CDEI), led by the Faculty of Administrative, Economic, and Accounting Sciences through its Business Administration program, an entrepreneurial culture is promoted that impacts students and the academic community across the various regional units.

This space has become a true Innovation HUB, where ideas evolve into real projects with social and economic impact. More than a laboratory, the CDEI functions as a translocal connection environment that integrates human talent, cutting-edge technology, and agile methodologies to transform knowledge into action.

The HUB offers support pathways according to the stage of entrepreneurship, from ideation processes and collaborative coworking, to prototyping with 3D printing, experimentation through virtual reality, advice on business formalization, intellectual property and access to digital showcases that connect projects with new markets.

According to knowledge and learning manager Ingrith Plazas Ordóñez, leader of the CDEI, the center currently registers 640 business ideas from different academic programs, developed in the Institutional Learning Fields (CAI), from which ventures will emerge that will participate in calls and business strengthening processes.

Also highlighted are 66 degree options under the entrepreneurship route, in addition to partnerships with external entities that strengthen the university entrepreneurial ecosystem and expand opportunities for opportunity creators in the territory.

The CDEI leader also extended an invitation to the university and regional community to participate on March 9, 2026 in the launch of CDEI-Menti 360, an innovative strategy that will be developed in conjunction with the Government of Cundinamarca, aimed at supporting and enhancing ventures originating from academia.

“The network of HUBs and the CDEI allow students, knowledge managers, administrators and the community to become protagonists of regional development, moving from idea to action through science, technology and innovation,” the manager noted.

Education that fosters entrepreneurship

The strengthening of entrepreneurship through the CDEI is aligned with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), which promotes training focused on the transformation of individuals and their environment. From this perspective, science, technology, and innovation are integrated as tools to create sustainable solutions, foster creativity, and consolidate projects that contribute to the social and economic development of the regions, transforming learning into real-world experiences of innovation and entrepreneurship with regional impact.
