His discipline led him to cross borders

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

With a career marked by art, sports, and social commitment, Eduard Yobani Rojas Medina, a 2004 graduate, has left an indelible mark on Colombia and now, on France. His story is a clear example of how education, discipline, and passion can transcend borders.

During his fourth semester of the Bachelor's Degree program in Physical Education, Recreation and Sports, Eduard Yobani was part of University Welfare, where he founded the urban dance group "Celebrity" in 2000. This collective, which later became "Osos Dance Crew", was a benchmark at the university for 19 years.

Under his guidance, they achieved top rankings in hip-hop competitions and qualified for a national championship in 2019, bringing great honor to UCundinamarca. In 2021, Eduard embarked on his journey to Marseille, France, where he has established himself as a Zumba instructor in various styles, bringing joy to children, seniors, and multicultural communities. He also teaches salsa and bachata workshops and works as a physical education teacher.

In 2024, she reached a milestone in her career when France officially recognized her bachelor's degree, allowing her to teach throughout the country. Now, her goal is even more ambitious: to begin a Master's degree in Spanish Language and become a Spanish teacher in French schools and universities. "It's wonderful to leave that mark and teach our language, which is so beautiful," she said.

Rojas Medina attributes his success to the impact of his alma mater's educational model. "For me, the most important and key factor was the university's teaching model. They taught me how to teach, what strategies to use in front of a class, and that helped me a lot to achieve what I'm doing today in another country," he proudly remarked.

“I will always carry the name of the University of Cundinamarca with pride. My education there was the foundation for me to make my way in the world,” said Eduard Yobani, who, with his talent and dedication, demonstrates that the legacy of UCundinamarca extends across the globe.
