Human rights: part of professional training?

Julián Nicolás Cruz Clavijo, a 2011 graduate of the Agronomic Engineering program at the Fusagasugá campus, has built a professional career marked by a commitment to the countryside, innovation, and the strengthening of the agricultural sector in Cundinamarca.
After completing her studies, she joined the Pasca Municipality, where she assumed the directorship of the Municipal Unit of Agricultural Technical Assistance (UMATA). During her tenure, she successfully positioned this unit among the top 20 in the region in 2013, fulfilling the municipality's Annual Agricultural and Livestock Operating Plans and strengthening technical assistance to local producers.
Subsequently, he served as a technical facilitator at the Colombian Fruit and Vegetable Association (ASOFRUCOL), providing specialized advice to avocado producers in different municipalities of the department, contributing to the improvement of production processes and the competitiveness of the sector.
His career continued at the National Learning Service (SENA), where he began as a contractor and is now a career civil servant. There, he has held academic coordination positions, participated in the creation of curricula for continuing and degree programs, and been part of the research area (SENNOVA), representing projects in national and international forums.
One of the highlights of her career was her participation in Expo Osaka – Japan 2025, one of the most important international showcases for innovation and development. There, she represented Colombia with the project “Rural Skills and Abilities,” a methodology based on practical tests designed to strengthen the fine and gross motor skills, as well as the cognitive abilities, of farmworkers, showcasing Colombian rural talent to the world.
She also joined the technical team of the School of Skills and Abilities for the floriculture sector, where she contributed to the training of more than 700 apprentices in the Sabana and western regions of Cundinamarca, especially in processes related to flowers and foliage. In 2024, she received regional recognition for her outstanding institutional performance.
Julián Cruz's story demonstrates how the comprehensive education he received at the University of Cundinamarca, guided by the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), transcends the classroom to become leadership, innovation, and real transformation of the region. His trajectory shows that knowledge, when integrated with context and social commitment, becomes an engine for rural development and international projection.
