The University of Cundinamarca proudly celebrated the outstanding participation of Pedro Miguel Robelto López, a 2019 graduate of the Bachelor's Degree program in Physical Education, Recreation and Sports, Fusagasugá campus, in the Tango World Championship held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 22 to September 2, 2025.
Since 2014, Pedro has been a tango and salsa instructor at UCundinamarca, leading artistic training programs that have inspired students and the university community. His career, which began in 2004, has been marked by significant recognition, including the title of National Tango Champion in the group category at the Manizales Fair in 2010 and two national runner-up titles in 2009 and 2018.
This year 2025, Pedro reached one of the most significant milestones of his career: representing Colombia and the University of Cundinamarca in the tango de pista and tango escenario categories of the prestigious World Tango Championship.
The international competition brought together more than 850 couples from 50 countries, solidifying its position as one of the largest and most prestigious cultural events in the world. In this context, Pedro Robelto López advanced to the quarterfinals, placing among the top 150 couples internationally.
“For me, this experience is a dream come true. Representing Colombia and UCundinamarca at an event of this magnitude is an honor and a very important achievement in my professional career,” he said excitedly.
The Tango World Championship not only showcased the talent of Colombian dancers, but also projected the University of Cundinamarca onto international cultural stages.
Pedro emphasized that this achievement is the result of discipline, passion, and commitment to art, values he has transmitted throughout his years of teaching at the institution.
With experiences like this, UCundinamarca reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive education, where art, culture, and sports are fundamental pillars in building human beings capable of transforming the world through their talents and passions.
