Graduate selected as the best public servant

Andrés Moya Cediel received recognition as the best public servant at the national level, in the municipal category, awarded by the National Government through Public Function.

The ceremony was presided over by President Iván Duque Márquez and the Director of Public Service, Fernando Grillo, on June 30, 2020. During the event, National Public Servant Day was commemorated, and several awards were presented to public officials who have distinguished themselves through their work and commitment. The commemorative event, which is held annually at the Casa de Nariño (Presidential Palace), was held virtually this year due to the health emergency.

Andrés Moya holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Cundinamarca (2008) and is an expert in Project Formulation from the University of Asturias. He currently serves as the Director of Social Action for the municipality of Ubaté and has previously held a leadership position at the Crediflores Savings and Credit Cooperative. He is the founder of the Ángeles Recicladores Association and the Andrés Corazón Foundation.

Andrés received the award for best public servant thanks to a campaign he leads related to the creation of a food barter or exchange system. Given that the province of Ubaté is one of the main dairy-producing regions in Colombia, Andrés has been coordinating the food exchange process with neighboring municipalities that produce fruits or other foods not grown in the area. These products are delivered to vulnerable families, providing significant assistance during this time of economic hardship exacerbated by the pandemic.

The graduate is very proud to uphold the name of the University of Cundinamarca by obtaining this national recognition and affirms that it is important to leave a mark on the work we do, that difficulties can be turned into opportunities, and also invites us to remain united and supportive.
