UDEC graduate enters the diplomatic and consular service 2020!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is holding a diplomatic career competition from September 17th to 28th, 2018; register on the official website of the Chancellery.

Through Resolution Number 4738 of June 12, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the 2020 Entrance Examination for the Diplomatic and Consular Service, from September 17 to 28, 2018. Those interested can register on the official website of the Chancellery.

The public merit-based competition will select up to thirty-five (35) professionals to join the Diplomatic and Consular Training Course during 2019, with a view to choosing up to twenty (20) professionals to enter the Diplomatic and Consular Career in 2020, as Third Secretaries on probation.

This competition is open to graduates of UCundinamarca who meet the following requirements: Be a Colombian citizen by birth and not have dual nationality, have an officially recognized university degree issued by a Higher Education institution, have their military status defined, not be disqualified from holding public office or suspended from the practice of their profession, speak and write, in addition to Spanish, the English language, at a B2 level or equivalent, according to the CEFR, among others.

The entrance exam for the program consists of two phases: a written test that assesses the applicant's knowledge of Colombia's constitutional, political, and economic aspects. Applicants who pass this phase will proceed to the second phase, which consists of a psychometric test and personal interviews.

It is important to clarify that registration, the entrance exam, and the training course are all free for all Colombians, and there is no age limit to apply for the competition.

The Diplomatic and Consular Career is a special and hierarchical system, based on merit, which regulates entry through public competition, promotion, tenure and retirement of officials belonging to it.

The Foreign Service and the Diplomatic Career are regulated by Decree-Law 274 of 2000. Diplomatic and Consular Career officials perform functions for the foreign service, within or outside the Republic of Colombia.
