Goodbye, warrior of life

After a long battle with cancer, Dominic Rojas García, a student in the Sports Science and Physical Education program at the Soacha extension, passed away on October 17.

Rector Adriano Muñoz Barrera, the Institution's leadership, and the program's coordination team regret the passing of this young man who stood out for promoting the inclusion policy at UCundinamarca and fostered spaces of tolerance and respect for gender diversity.

“I wish to express my pride and privilege in having known Domimic, a young man who showed us how fleeting life is, but who also taught us to value it. His passion for studying, for life, for his friends, his family, and other loved ones made him invaluable,” said Luis Rafael Hutchison Salazar, program coordinator for Sports Science and Physical Education.

Coordinator Hutchison and teacher José Antonio Benítez accompanied Dominic throughout this process. “I remember when he told me he wanted to live, and that he was going to beat cancer. However, after his mother's death a month ago, sadness overwhelmed him and he could no longer fight.”.

The University of Cundinamarca sends a message of condolence to the family and friends of Dominic, a tireless fighter for the rights of the LGBTIQ community who will always be remembered as a great leader, fearless, irreverent, and a defender of his ideals and convictions.

Posthumous tribute

On Friday, October 22, as part of the Campo Cultural (CAC) Physical Activity for Life university week, a nature walk to Tres Cerritos Soacha will take place, and from there they will pay tribute to Dominic.
