From the classroom to reality

On May 27th, the Social Interaction Office of the Chía Extension held a professional experiences meeting with the participation of graduates, who shared their anecdotes and professional and personal experiences with the students, after finishing their studies at UCundinamarca.

Professor Jorge Rico, leader of the activity, explained that, through these exercises, students can see that after completing their studies, they can achieve great things at the professional level, since "all the thematic contents of the academic curriculum are strategically designed to contribute to the professional and labor growth of the Udecino student.".

The sense of belonging to UCundinamarca, the benefit derived from classes and academic practices, as well as the support of each of the teachers were what the graduates highlighted as fundamental when facing the working world.

What the graduates say

Jenny Marcela Sánchez, Adriana Rincón Caro, Juan Felipe Cárdenas, Yuberney Rodríguez Roa and Paula Alejandra Gonzales were the graduates who shared their experiences.

“One of the main challenges we face is becoming a decision-maker, facing and managing different situations,” said Adriana Rincón, a business administrator, who also asserted that the humanization of companies is urgent, a task in which everyone must contribute.

For his part, Juan Felipe Cárdenas, a Business Administration graduate, stated that one of the main challenges he faced in his professional life was being adaptable, understanding organizational dynamics, and differentiating himself from the competition, but he emphasized the fundamental importance of specializing in customer service.

Accountant Jenny Marcela Sánchez explained that adapting to a work life where she found new ways of working was one of the main challenges and that "if I could go back in time, I would take more advantage of the process in the research group that I was part of and I consider it to have been very important.".

Yuberney Rodríguez Roa, a business administrator and entrepreneur behind Gelart 3D, stated that one of his biggest challenges was deciding between being an employee and pursuing his own business. He also emphasized the importance of studying and working to get ahead. “As an employee, you can reach a position and continue studying, but as an entrepreneur, the path is harder, but much more rewarding; it all depends on your attitude.”.

At the end of the activity, teacher Jorge Rico left the students with the message to make the most of the opportunities and each of the life lessons that the teachers give them, and also invited those who decide to become entrepreneurs to approach CITGO with their business ideas.
