Within the framework of the XI Institutional Meeting of Groups and XIV Institutional Meeting of Seedbeds of the University College of Cundinamarca, the leader of the Cultural Learning Field Sowing Hope of the University of Cundinamarca, the director of the Ubaté branch, Johanna Andrea Gil Palacios and the Manager of the CAC, John Henry Vásquez Calderón, presented the paper entitled “Gastronomic Traditions and Zero Hunger in the Ubaté Valley”, which compiles the work of four years with figures and findings relevant to the Province.

In this regard, manager John Henry Vásquez commented that “the presentation reflected the continued work of the CAC Sembrando Esperanza, which differs from other research because it focuses on a specific region, allowing for a deeper understanding of the cultural and food characteristics of its municipalities.”.

The academic event took place on October 16th and featured international guests, researchers from various disciplines, and the participation of emerging research groups. A highlight of this presentation was the work of the Cultural Learning Field of the Ubaté Regional Directorate in food security research focused on technological solutions or the analysis of industrial agricultural production. This work emphasizes the value of traditional culinary practices. By rescuing and promoting ancestral knowledge, a connection with the past is forged, reinforcing cultural identity and offering sustainable solutions based on local resources.

John Henry Vásquez, the CAC manager, emphasizes that “this work has the potential to involve local communities in the Ubaté province in the process. The active participation of the inhabitants in documenting their own culinary traditions empowers them, making them active participants in the search for solutions to their food problems and creating a sense of ownership.”
