Wise people say that one person can go far, but when two unite with the same purpose they go even further and with much more success. That is what Mónica Andrea Guerrero López and Andrés David Ceballos Marín have done: united their lives out of love and to fight for their dreams and contribute to achieving a better world with an enterprise that brings benefits to the environment and people's food supply.
Boimic Organicos is an organic fertilizer company that has been operating for eight months in Simijaca, Cundinamarca. Andrés David, an agronomist engineer from UCundinamarca, and Andrea, who until recently was in her fourth semester of the same degree, moved from Facatativá to this municipality in the Ubaté valley to make this dream a reality and develop what they had planned since they began their studies.
“In the class with teacher Natalia Escobar we started making organic fertilizers, we liked it a lot and we leaned towards this type of product that is friendly to crops and the environment,” recalled Mónica Andrea.
The couple lived in Facatativá, where they completed their studies and when David graduated they began selling organic fertilizer that they manufactured. Mónica Andrea dedicated herself to the family business and to her young daughter Sara, who is the driving force behind their success.
One day, looking for ways to grow as producers and get more clients, they decided to settle in Simijaca and for the last eight months they have been working towards their dream. “We provide complete crop consulting, we analyze the soil, we see what it needs and which of our products would work best for it,” said David, the graduate of Agronomic Engineering from UCundinamarca.
A responsible product
The fertilizer that the couple makes allows the crops to be environmentally responsible, free of chemicals and with a large amount of vitamins and minerals for the soils. "We have two types of fertilizers, one type bokashi that provides minerals, combats pests and is in favor of the microbiota, it is solid and works very well for degraded soils," explained the graduate who also explained that they give the plant exactly what it needs.
On the other hand, the couple sells liquid biofertilizers based on cow manure that are highly effective. “We analyze the soil of our clients to find out what the plant needs and thus sell a targeted fertilizer,” David explained.
The entrepreneurs provide their technical and field assistance services, assuring that they do not sell just to sell, but do so conscientiously and with the goal that their product will be useful to whoever buys it and that this will help people not to consume so many chemicals in their food.
A homegrown crop
Biomic Organicos is a dream that young people continue to build, however it is not the only thing that Davis works on, his plan goes further, for this reason Together with a person from the region David started his cultivation of Ochuva, in which he puts into practice all his knowledge as an agronomist.
Currently, Biomix markets its products through word of mouth based on positive experiences, sometimes via Facebook, where it only publishes the date on which it will travel to Bogotá so that customers can place orders and visit its clients.
