Health in fish farming

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences held the 1st workshop on aquaculture and fish farming health.

Producers from the Sumapaz region, students and professors from the Animal Science program met in the auditorium of the CAD of the UCundinamarca to participate in the workshop that had the purpose of training and strengthening the attendees in a theoretical and practical way in the identification of the main diseases in Tilapia and Trout, samples for comprehensive diagnoses in fish, fresh preparation, histopathology, bacteriology and molecular.

The workshop was led by Dr. Paola Andrea Barato Gómez, a national expert in fish health and biotechnology, who highlighted the importance of identifying the presence of diseases in fish, taking samples from internal organs, sterilizing equipment, techniques for handling batches, intervention methods in case of disease outbreaks, and other aspects of fish farming health.

It is worth noting that the workshop was led by Professor Roger Suárez Martínez, the Zootechnics program, the GRIPEPZ research group and the fish physiology laboratory seedbed.
