Human rights: part of professional training?

For the first time, the University of Cundinamarca is holding the Mathematics Olympiad, an event that has seen the participation of 800 students from 13 schools in the municipality of Soacha. The first round was held virtually from May 18th to 19th, and after the test results, 30 students will compete in the grand final in person on Wednesday, May 31st.
This initiative, proposed by Rector Adriano Muñoz, is organized by the University Social Interaction Directorate (ISU) and the Faculty of Engineering, with support from the Office of Virtual and Distance Education, the Administrative Directorate of the Soacha Extension, the backing of the Academic Vice-Rectorate and the Soacha Education Secretariat. It seeks to foster the development of mathematical skills in students and promote democratic values, civility, and life.
“The dialogue of knowledge with the communities is fostered through this type of initiative; with this, the social dimension of our Transmodern Digital Educational Model – MEDIT is strengthened,” explained Patricia Gil, ISU director.

The ISU Director also stated that this is expected to be the first of many Olympiads and that it will expand to an increasing number of educational institutions and municipalities in the department. She also invited the entire university community to follow this event and support these promising young athletes.
