Facatativá hosts workshop “Information Asset Survey”

On July 31st, the Systems and Technology Department held the "Information Asset Inventory" workshop at the Facatativá Extension, aimed at administrative staff. This was the first group to receive this important training, which will be offered to all university departments. The main purpose is to raise awareness throughout the university community about the importance of establishing security mechanisms for institutional information, beginning this semester with the inventory of information assets in each department.

The University of Cundinamarca It understands the importance of protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information as an essential asset for the provision of its training and learning, science, technology, and innovation services, and university interaction. Therefore, it is a priority to implement a culture and an Information Security Management System (ISMS) as a tool that allows for the identification, analysis, assessment, and treatment of risks, while maintaining continuous improvement in accordance with the needs of the different identified stakeholders.

The Systems and Technology Directorate is the area that establishes, manages and articulates the guidelines and mechanisms for the protection and safeguarding of information that the University of Cundinamarca considers, in accordance with the applicable legal regulations and in accordance with the mission and vision of the institution.

Other policies that are generated as a result of the implementation of the ISMS will be adopted and mandatory for all stakeholders.

Information Asset Classification

The classification of information assets aims to ensure that information receives appropriate levels of protection, as its value and other specific characteristics necessitate special handling. The information classification system that could be defined by the organization is based on the specific characteristics of the information, considers the organization's culture and internal operations, and seeks to comply with the requirements stipulated in the Asset Management section of the ISO 27001:2013, ISO 27002, and ISO 27005 standards. 7.1.
