Facatativá Extension implements self-care strategies

The event took place last Friday, March 10th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Facatativá extension facilities and was attended by a total of 128 people, who learned various techniques to deal with a risk situation.

According to María Alejandra Bonilla Ramírez, coordinator of University Welfare in Facatativá, this measure was taken in response to the increase in thefts targeting the educational community in this municipality. “There have been robberies in the area, and that's why we organized this activity, which we held as part of the Women's Day celebration, so that women know what to do in case of a robbery and the self-care strategies they should always consider.”.

The training process was coordinated by the Center Training & MMA gym. “They guided her and, in addition to what was promised, gave a talk on healthy lifestyle habits such as nutrition and physical activity.”.

For the coach, Eric Alejandro Peña, who is a self-defense instructor as well as a sports coach, these types of events are key, "They are very good because they teach you to control fear.".

Regarding the dilemma of confronting assailants, Peña comments that it depends on the circumstances of the robbery. “If the person cannot control their fear and there are three or four assailants, it is better not to act and hand over what they demand. Material things can be replaced, life cannot.”.

In this way, UCundinamarca, through the Office of University Welfare, works to improve the quality of life of the educational community, contributing to human development and integral formation, through sports, cultural, recreational, promotion and prevention activities based on the Transmodern Digital Educational Model.
