Extension of dates for characterization

CHARACTERIZATION AND ZERO REGISTRATION

According to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of National Education, which state: “The Institution is responsible for having the socio-economic characterization of its students, including their socioeconomic stratum, and must define how the student will support this condition.”, The Academic Council, in its session of July 14, 2021, decided extend the deadline for characterization until Friday, July 16.

All students (except those who have already been validated and have approval) will be able to enter and complete their characterization process so that they are up to date and in compliance with the benefit granted. Those who are in strata 1, 2 and 3 and demonstrate this can access zero tuition.

The characterization It is an ongoing process, which for the 2021 Student Performance Assessment (IPA) began in April. This process allows for the identification of socioeconomic, academic, and psychosocial attributes within a student population. It is a cross-cutting tool required for the institution's core functions, becoming a fundamental institutional factor, including during visits by the Ministry of National Education and other stakeholders in the context of renewing qualified registrations, accreditation, and other processes.

Remember that the data on the utility bill or supporting document that you upload must match the address and socioeconomic level that you fill in on the data capture application.

The following documents are valid to support the address and socioeconomic stratum:

  • Utility bill (water, electricity), in the case of rural aqueducts the certification of the organization in charge of the aqueduct
  • Support from community action board that includes full names, identification, address and socioeconomic stratum.

  • The service receipt must be from the current date. current 2021 and show the address and socioeconomic level of the dwelling.

Students who do not demonstrate their socioeconomic status by completing the characterization form or whose data is not consistent with the uploaded supporting documentation will not be eligible for the zero tuition benefit.

Some doubts about the characterization and the zero registration fee

Zero tuition will be given to undergraduate students who are characterized and belong to socioeconomic levels 1, 2 and 3.

What happens if I don't complete my characterization before July 16th?

There will be no way to verify that the person belongs to a socioeconomic stratum eligible for the benefit, therefore the student must pay the full amount of their tuition.

I received an email rejecting the document I uploaded for my characterization and instructing me to contact [email protected] What should I do now?

There is no need to contact [email protected] , The guideline given by the Academic Council is that the student can access the characterization application and make the adjustments for which their characterization was rejected.

What happens if the receipt I uploaded is not consistent with the information displayed on the platform or is not legible?

There is no way to verify the information that was uploaded, therefore the 100% billing for the tuition fee will proceed. After the start of the semester, the student may request an adjustment to the characterization, but it will not be applicable to any type of benefit related to zero tuition.

Students need to enter and update their information between July 15 and 16.

I log into the application and get a message saying my characterization was approved. Do I need to take any further steps?

It is not necessary, this message indicates that your information has already been validated by one of the university officials.

What happens after July 16th?

After July 16, the characterization application will close. Validation will then proceed so that undergraduate students who completed their characterization on time with the corresponding supporting documents and who can prove they belong to socioeconomic levels 1, 2, and 3 can receive their receipt with the zero tuition benefit applied and can pay any fees not related to tuition between July 21 and 31.

Those who cannot prove they belong to socioeconomic levels 1, 2, and 3 must pay the full tuition fee and any other applicable fees.

If information that is not in accordance with the truth is detected by the IES or any competent authority, the student may face disciplinary proceedings.

Remember to keep an eye on your billing, as the ONLY payment dates are between July 21st and 31st, and being a beneficiary of zero tuition does not exempt you from paying other regulated financial rights at the institution.
