By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office for Communications.

From October 14 to 17, the institution held Expo UCundinamarca 9.0, an event that brought together the different regional units to focus on creativity, applied research, productive development, integration, and sports. This event provided a platform for university entrepreneurs to present projects and products resulting from academic work and institutional innovation.

Dr. Miguel Alejandro Flechas Montaño, dean of the Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences, stated that “the outcome of this 2025 edition is satisfactory. The experience was very well received, with activities from the Cultural Learning Field of Translocal Problem Solving.”.

The proposal “Recycling to transform lives and environments” was identified, promoting a circular economy that dignifies the work of informal recyclers and strengthens vulnerable communities through the coordination of all faculties and social participation.

Students from different programs participated with more than 500 attendees throughout the week, developing an accounting research colloquium, a gastronomic business fair, a workshop, a prototype fair, environmental engineering presentations, a programming marathon, mathematics olympiads, a video game tournament, a technical update day, success stories, an accounting thinking forum and workshops with regional entrepreneurs.

Julieth Garzón, coordinator of Business Administration in Fusagasugá, explained that “this experience has become established as an academic and educational setting that promotes integration, innovation and entrepreneurship in our university community.”.

For four days, Opportunity Creators, Knowledge Managers and entrepreneurs shared experiences on projects that strengthen comprehensive training, social relevance and articulation with the regional productive environment.

Gustavo Sánchez Martínez, Knowledge Manager in Business Administration Facatativá, highlighted the work with the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development and Education: “We increased participation by between 90 and 100% compared to 2024.”.

The number of exhibitors increased from 47 in 2024 to 70 in 2025, with a 1501% increase in external visitors. Entrepreneurs from University Social Interaction projects and regional schools participated, with 32 gastronomic ventures being particularly noteworthy.

Nelson Porras, Knowledge Manager in Business Administration Chía, pointed out that “the importance of Expo UCundinamarca lies in the educational space that connects academic learning with real practice, with real life.”.

The food fair included students of administration, accounting and engineering, plus invited entrepreneurs from Cota, Cajicá, Chía, Sopó and La Calera, generating networks and strengthening the regional entrepreneurial spirit.

For his part, Juan Andrés Godoy, coordinator of Expo UCundinamarca in Girardot, reported a “very positive outcome with more than 300 attendees and 35 businesses participating in the gastronomic and commercial exhibition.”.

Activities highlighted included problem-solving with informal recyclers, an aerobic exercise session, cultural and sporting experiences, and integration between programs with academic sessions in Nursing, Software Engineering, Business Administration, and Environmental Engineering.

Yuliana Pérez Gaviria, coordinator of the Business Administration program in Ubaté, noted that the day included various activities focused on learning and holistic development. She also highlighted the business fair, an event that allowed for the integration of academic content with cultural expressions and the active participation of the entire Ubaté Valley community.

He added that this experience had a cross-cutting approach, involving all the branch's programs on different days and with diverse themes. “We addressed current issues and emerging trends; for example, in Public Accounting we conducted specialized training, while with Systems Engineering we explored aspects related to artificial intelligence and big data. We also had the participation of international guests who shared their experiences on entrepreneurship and digital transformation,” he pointed out.

Andrea Casallas, administrative manager of the Zipaquirá extension, explained that the fair allowed for the coordination of activities with the municipality's Secretariat of Culture and had the participation of nearly 200 people throughout the experiences developed during University Week.

Elvis Cortés, coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation and Sports in Fusagasugá, explained the participation in several experiences: King of the Prison challenge, Aerobic Rumba, Bike Ride and formative experience on Calisthenics.

The students explored methodologies and characteristics of this sporting discipline, strengthening physical and pedagogical skills through practice and experimentation.

Expo UCundinamarca 9.0 represents the consolidation of the institution's commitment to strengthening regional entrepreneurship. This strategic experience enhances entrepreneurial skills, fosters collaborative work, and showcases initiatives that address sustainable development challenges.

The participation of more than 1000 people in the different regional units, including students, knowledge managers, entrepreneurs and the external community, demonstrates the impact and relevance of this space that connects academia, the productive sector and society in the construction of more prosperous and sustainable territories.
