Experts say that whoever has the information and knows it thoroughly has the power. That's why this specialization is fundamental in a globalized world that demands, at a dizzying pace, staying up-to-date.
UCundinamarca News spoke with Yenifer Beltrán, coordinator of this training, which is in line with the fourth industrial revolution, characterized by mixing production techniques with intelligent systems that integrate with organizations and people.
UCundinamarca News: What does the specialization consist of?
Yenifer Beltrán Sierra: The specialization is a training program that focuses on two disciplinary axes: management as we traditionally understand it, but based on information systems and the adoption and use of these tools within organizations. Therefore, competencies are developed in both of these areas of knowledge.
UCundinamarca News: What audience is the specialization aimed at?
Yenifer Beltrán Sierra: It's a cross-disciplinary program, so it's geared towards different professions, since we have two main areas of focus: administration and information systems. This latter aspect has become crucial within any organization. Therefore, for people interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills to advise on and manage projects in a company, this training allows them to develop both the disciplinary competencies and soft skills necessary to carry out these processes.
UCundinamarca News: What professional skills will a person who wants to study this specialization have acquired at the end of the program?
Yenifer Beltrán Sierra: She will be competent to develop the organization's strategy, from information systems to innovation management. Therefore, she can work as a business advisor or consultant for continuous improvement strategies supported by information and communication technologies, as an analyst of organizational and technological processes, or as an advisor or project manager supported by information systems and technologies.
UCundinamarca News: What is the curriculum structured like?
Yenifer Beltrán Sierra: The curriculum consists of twenty-four credits for the first and second semesters. In the first semester, we cover almost the entire management component and some seminars on information systems fundamentals. In the second semester, we focus on all aspects of information systems, such as CRM, ERP, and project development based on technology management and technological innovation. At the end of the program, students must complete an applied research thesis, an advanced course, or prepare an academic article that must be published in an indexed journal.
UCundinamarca News: What is the registration process like?
Yenifer Beltrán Sierra: The application process is completed through the institution's website and costs approximately 116,000 pesos. Registration is open until November 3rd. Once that stage is completed, applicants will be contacted for an interview. The idea is for them to learn about all the features of the specialization, which is offered online.
UCundinamarca News: How much does the investment cost for the interested party?
Yenifer Beltrán Sierra: The investment is equivalent to five current legal monthly minimum wages. However, graduates receive a 20% discount and a 10% discount if they present their most recent voter registration certificate. If they don't have the funds, they can apply for a loan through ICETEX, and we offer a tuition payment plan starting in the second semester.
UCundinamarca News: Are there meetings with the knowledge manager via the internet?
Yenifer Beltrán Sierra: Yes. Students typically have two meetings per week, scheduled between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday. It all depends on the virtual and synchronous classroom schedule created by the program coordinator.
