The University of Cundinamarca is reinforcing its commitment to student retention and academic success by benefiting 3,567 students during 2024 through its socioeconomic programs and exemptions, as reported by Dr. María Margarita Moya González, Director of University Welfare.
Exemptions cover up to 100% of registration fees
Tuition waiver programs are one form of support for students facing financial hardship. Type A waivers cover 100% of the tuition fees, while Type B waivers cover 50% of the cost.
“These programs were created to mitigate the needs of the student community that put their continued enrollment at the institution at risk,” explained Moya González.
In addition to exemptions for financial resources, the university recognizes outstanding students with exemptions for outstanding performances in academic, scientific, sporting or cultural events, as well as for medals and honors registration.
Other support programs from Welfare
There are also socioeconomic programs that include essential services such as the university residence, which provides accommodation and full board throughout the academic period, and the university restaurant with different options: daily lunch, day plan (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and complementary plan (snack that complements the food of the academic day).
The mobile connectivity program, created in 2020 due to the pandemic, continues to be fundamental to ensuring students' digital access, providing SIM cards with active data plans throughout the semester.
Accessible requirements
To access these benefits, students must be currently enrolled in undergraduate programs, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5, have passed all subjects from the previous semester, and have no disciplinary sanctions.
The application process is carried out through the institutional platform using the SIPSE system, where students register their data and upload the required documentation.
Moya González highlighted that these programs, which have experienced significant growth in recent years, demonstrate the institutional commitment to educational equity, retention, and academic success of future professionals at UCundinamarca.
