Writer Rosa Ma. Rodríguez visits UCundinamarca

As part of strengthening our academic identity, Rector Adriano Muñoz Barrera will preside over the awarding of the first Honorary Doctorate on April 30 at the Chía campus. The distinguished honoree will be Dr. Rosa María Rodríguez Magda, whose work and theoretical contributions have been essential pillars for the development of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT). The event not only celebrates Dr. Rodríguez Magda's career but also reaffirms the university's commitment to an education that responds to the challenges of transmodernity and the digital age.

Who is Rosa María Rodríguez?

Filósofa y escritora. Licenciada y doctora en filosofía por la Universidad de Valencia, profesora invitada en l’Université de Paris VIII-Vincennes à Saint-Denis, Université Paris VII, Université de Paris-Dauphine, Universidad Autónoma de México, Universidad de San Juan en Río Piedras (Puerto Rico), New York University, Komazawa University (Tokio), Tartu University (Estonia). Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (México), Universidad de Cundinamarca (Colombia). Ha sido, desde 1998 a 2015, directora del Aula de Pensamiento de la Institució Alfons el Magnànim y de la revista Debats; desde 1996 a 2003 directora de la Fundación Tercer Milenio-UNESCO.

Especializada en pensamiento contemporáneo, es autora, entre otros libros, de Saturn's smile, The Frankenstein model, Transmodernity, Spain converted to Islam, Non-existent Al-Andalus, Of Beaches and Specters. Essay on contemporary thought.

Ha publicado también en el terreno de la investigación feminista: Femenino fin de siglo.

La seducción de la diferencia, Foucault y la genealogía de los sexos, El placer del simulacro, Sin género de dudas, Encuentro en el Café de Flore con Simone de Beauvoir, La mujer molesta. Feminismos postgénero y transidentidad sexual.

And within the realm of literary creation: Triptych, In Some House by the Sea, The Lost Words, And from the Embers Came the Cold, Desire and the Gaze… She has coordinated various works and produced critical editions, as well as participated in numerous collective books. Her texts have been translated into English, French, Italian, Estonian, and Czech.
