The academic activity's main objective was to raise awareness among future environmental engineers so that they can lead, design, and manage solutions that mitigate negative environmental impacts and thus contribute to sustainable human development leading to an improved quality of life for communities and their ecosystems.
The informative talk focused on the country's sustainable development, biodiversity as a national heritage, the diversity of species, and the variety of unique plants that are now illegally traded, affecting biological function processes and posing a risk to the balance of ecosystems.
Furthermore, Mayor Cesar Gutierrez explained to the educational community the function of the Environmental Police with documented cases of trafficking, keeping or illegal exploitation of wildlife in the region and in the country, as well as the legislation on the matter.
