Environmental awareness – November 23, 2017

The environmental education awareness conference was held in the main auditorium of the University of Cundinamarca at the Chía extension, an event that had a large attendance of 200 people.

It is essential to raise awareness among children and young people so that they can become multipliers in their homes, schools, and communities in general; this is very important and contributes to solving environmental problems, explained Daisy Liliana Ávila Torres, an eighth-semester Business Administration student.

Eighth-semester students from the thematic core of Elective IV – Environment and Sustainable Development, and teacher Luis Fernando Hernández Sandoval, led the Conference: “awareness in environmental education”, aimed at students of UCundinamarca and special guests.

The academic event highlighted, among other topics, natural resources, solid waste management and recycling, aiming to increase commitment and friendliness towards nature. The event was very well received by the attendees, who showed great interest in the topic.

For student Jorge David González Peña and his classmates, the contributions of the speakers and the awareness videos sparked their interest in raising awareness about protecting natural resources, leaving an indelible mark on their minds; their purpose is to safeguard planet Earth and enjoy the beautiful things that Mother Nature offers us for future generations.

On the other hand, the environmental conference was also held in the Yerbabuena village, Chía, where around 100 young people attended. There, Business Administration students from the same thematic area of Environment and Sustainable Development led the academic event, which was aimed at young people and children from the village.

The conference was conducted in a dynamic format, incorporating educational video games for children about natural resources, solid waste management, and recycling. Throughout the activity, the participants demonstrated great interest and receptiveness.
