Fellow Investor is the venture that Laura Camila Bustos Arce, a Business Administration student, and Hugo Alberto Lamar Monterroza, a Systems Engineering student from the Chía Extension, have been leading together with Katherine Liseth Bustos Arce for a little over a year.

This company was born from the analysis that the three young people conducted regarding the current situation and the difficulties faced by those who want to start a business. “Financing ventures is an issue that many young people find to be a major obstacle, since loans from banks are sometimes difficult to obtain,” explained Laura Camila.

Taking these factors into account, the young people decided to grow in order to support entrepreneurs by seeking investors through crowdfunding, a method that allows an investor to contribute money to a venture in exchange for becoming a partner in it.

Crowdfunding is a strategy used by foundations or some companies to receive donations; in this case, it is applied so that they become part of the venture as capital partners, and the percentage of shares is agreed between the parties.

Another option available at Fellow Investor is loans through Crowdlending, where entrepreneurs receive credit and agree on the payment method; the lender can even set fewer requirements and lower interest rates than other banking entities.

The business idea

Laura Camila explains that these types of companies that support others are more common in other countries; however, they want to make a difference and work on their own venture. “The profits depend on the percentage they manage to achieve, whether as shareholders or through loans, but we are responsible for verifying that both parties meet requirements such as the legality of the funds, the viability of the venture, among other aspects.”.

This business idea has been developed at the CITGO of Cundinamarca Chía Extension, where young people have received advice to carry out their entrepreneurial venture.

The team made up of the Bustos Arce sisters and Hugo Alberto, the boyfriend of one of them, receives the applications and studies each applicant, and is also in charge of managing to find the investor.
