“English Night” in Girardot

On the evening of October 25th, the Girardot branch hosted its 15th annual "English Night," where students, dressed in their finest attire, enjoyed an evening filled with music, dance, and lights, with English as the main focus. Knowledge and learning managers Magda Lorena Ortiz and John Breitner Masmela, from the English Department, led the event.

It is worth noting that the students sang songs by Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and The Latin Brothers. The experience, held in three categories—Cheerleading Contest, Singing Contest, and Cultural Collage—allowed them to practice their English communication skills.

Elder Nordgrand from the USA, Elder Chávez from Bolivia, Elder Bouruignon from Brazil and missionaries from the State of Utah-USA, were the judges in charge of evaluating the process of communicative interaction in English of the students of the different academic programs of the section.

Special guests included international exchange students, who are spending their academic semester at the Girardot campus and are participating in a cultural and linguistic exchange program. They performed the song "Sway" by Michael Bublé.

This experience allowed for the strengthening of sister ties and the positioning of Institutional Learning Fields with an internationalization focus in Latin America, explained Dr. Catherinne Valbuena Lizcano, coordinator of the Internationalization process.

This experience featured nearly thirty musical, artistic and cultural interventions in English as a foreign language.
