Participants highlighted that the program has improved national and international visibility, thanks to the exchange of faculty and students with other higher education institutions abroad. This is further enhanced by the recruitment of full-time faculty with profiles suited to the program's core missions.
“The organization and foundation of the metacognitive learning strategy called Integrated Semester Projects (PIS), which has been championed by the faculty, and which we have been working on for almost 10 years, From the first to the sixth semester of the program, it has had very good results as a pedagogical and training strategy, given that it has fostered scientific culture and interdisciplinary work, and has been recognized by the academic peers of the Ministry of National Education (MEN) within the framework of the renewal of the qualified registration.”, Bibiana Royero Benavides, coordinator of the Agronomic Engineering program, Fusagasugá campus, pointed out.
Another mission strength revealed to the educational community during the evaluation workshop was the University Interaction programs that it has been developing with associations of peasant producers in the territory, accompanying the productive processes with technical assistance, training, generation of educational materials, degree works and internships, as well as the formulation and management of research projects aimed at organizational development.
The opportunities for improvement considered are:
-The adaptation of the laboratories of soils, biotechnology and tissue culture, physiology and plant hardening.
-The adaptation in the La Esperanza agro-environmental unit of the greenhouse spaces, the design and implementation of irrigation, ecological development, the water treatment plant and other projects necessary for the development of academic and research projects.
-The adaptation of a teachers' lounge equipped to provide the multiple functions that teachers perform.
-Strengthening teacher training spaces for disciplinary updating, especially within the framework of new technologies for agriculture, research training, pedagogy, and the appropriation of the institutional educational model.
-The exchange and participation of teachers and students in various academic, research and social interaction spaces of a national and international nature for the strengthening of the mission axes.
“The program is awaiting the Ministry of Education’s decision regarding the process we undertook for the renewal of its accreditation and the curriculum revision. It's important to remember that the weighting process is a phase of the self-evaluation process aimed at achieving high-quality accreditation for the program.”, Royero Benavides pointed out.
