Engineering that inspires and transforms the future

On May 20th, the Ubaté branch opened its doors to students, knowledge and learning managers, public officials, and the educational community at large for a day of innovation, technology, and collaborative learning with the "Experience University with ICT" event. This participatory space, led by the Systems and Computing Engineering program, established itself as a showcase of opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), strengthening inter-institutional ties and bringing academia closer to the community.

The event, which took place between 7:00 am and 12:00 pm, was attended by 145 students, 11 teachers, 9 municipal officials and 57 university monitors, who ensured a smooth and enriching experience for the visitors.

Attendees experienced a diverse agenda divided into three thematic areas:

1. Interactive Workshops for Schools

Led by 3 managers and 14 student researchers, 7 workshops were held covering topics such as educational and recreational robotics, UTP cable crimping, video game design, stop-motion animation with clay, and climate data analysis for Ubaté. This experience sparked interest in emerging technologies among high school students.

2. Academic Presentations

The auditorium was the setting for 3 presentations aimed at university professors and studentss, The event covered topics such as lateral thinking, Design Thinking as a learning strategy, and the launch of the new computer assembly and repair course under the MEDIT strategy. Also noteworthy was the participation of Dr. Andrés Felipe Guerrero, Knowledge and Learning Manager for the Electronic Engineering program at the Fusagasugá campus, who contributed his expert perspective as a guest speaker.

3. Creativity Room for Public Officials

It was a space for dialogue and reflection, where municipal officials learned about projects applied to social environments, such as the use of organic solid waste to generate electricity, implemented in the Fusagasugá market square. Impact and projection

Experience the University with Tic It achieved significant progress in its most recent edition, notably the multisectoral integration between schools, municipalities, and the University, which strengthened key institutional alliances for regional educational development. Furthermore, the event actively promoted engineering and ICT, encouraging young people's interest in STEM fields through workshops and dynamic activities. Collaboration with local media outlets, such as the radio station Grow Stereo, amplified the impact of the event on the community of Ubaté and its surroundings.

This experience has established itself as an effective strategy for introducing high school students to science and technology from an early age. It is not only an academic event, but also a transformative experience that highlighted the potential of collaborative education to inspire new generations of engineers and technologists in the region. Undoubtedly, this initiative paves the way for a future with more science, more technology, and more opportunities for all.
