Engineering students from UDEC win world hackathon

The teacher, Misael Fernando Perilla Benítez, the students and graduates Javier Alejandro Castañeda Celis, Mario Alejandro Jiménez Soler, Duván Felipe Bernal Varila and Cristian Eduardo Carmona Carmona, members of the UPS and IngeAndroid seedbeds of the Systems Engineering program of the University of Cundinamarca, obtained first place in a blockchain hackathon.

The document certification challenge was organized by the Chinese company ProximaX, which awarded 1,200,000 XPX (the company's cryptocurrency) to the winning team.

The Hackathon featured the participation of nine teams from six national and international universities such as the Central Technical Institute, Uniminuto, UniHorizonte, Technological University of Pereira, Konrad Lorenz University Foundation, University of Cundinamarca and three private teams connected from Colombia and Bolivia.

“The ReactJS programming language was used with a connection to a MySQL database and the Blockchain APIs provided by ProximaX. The code was shared using a repository on GitHub, and VS Code was used as the text editor. All these tools were implemented on different operating systems such as Windows 10, Lubuntu 20.04, and Manjaro Linux 20.1,” said Professor Misael Fernando Perilla Benítez.

It is worth noting that student Cristian Eduardo Carmona Carmona received recognition for his presentation entitled “System for the detection of SQL injection with machine learning techniques” within the framework of International Computer Security Day.

The event and presentations were promoted using the YouTube channel of the Metropolitan University Network of Bogotá in association with the network of universities for the promotion of research in information and communication technologies, UxTIC.

The project deliverables were managed using the platform of the startup company p4s (https://p4s.co/proximax-certificacion-de-documentos) and the Blockchain services provided by the Chinese company ProximaX.
