“The event aimed to promote science, technology, and innovation by sharing and reflecting on the results of engineering projects that contribute to the country's economic, social, and cultural development and transform reality,” highlighted Jesús Enrique Pabón Quintero, coordinator of the Software Development Technology program.
At the Soacha Extension, the learning field “Engineering as a Transformative Agent of the 21st Century Generation” was carried out with the participation of the University of San Gil from the city of Chiquinquirá and students from the Faculty of Engineering belonging to the campuses of Chía, Ubaté, Fusagasugá and Facatativá.
The academic event, led by the Faculty of Engineering and the Software Development Technology program, allowed the educational community to update itself on global trends in applications in the different branches of engineering through the transfer of knowledge from professionals based on their experiences.
The engineering day included presentations, forums, physics and mathematics olympiads, programming, workshops, an Algorithms and Video Games Workshop, a robotics workshop, and displays of research projects and posters.
Some of the conferences presented at the event covered different topics such as digital marketing, smart spaces for sports practice, free networks as an alternative for social innovation and digital inclusion, digital accessibility for the visually impaired, and cybersecurity for the digital citizen.
“Finally, it is worth noting that these academic spaces allow for the identification of organizational problems with technological solutions and the degree of interdisciplinary application, and also foster critical and creative thinking and shared responsibility with the environment,” added Pabón Quintero.
