The thematic panel “Applications of Engineering in Agroindustry” was held in the Emilio Sierra Baquero Auditorium of the University of Cundinamarca, Fusagasugá campus, as part of the Engineering Conference 2017 which took place on May 10 and 11.
The panel discussion was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Wilson Joven Sarria, who emphasized the importance of students sharing knowledge, learning, and experiences. “If we want to contribute to the development of the country, we must innovate from our classrooms "of class," the dean pointed out.
In addition to encouraging educational interest in the different areas and applications of engineering, the Faculty seeks to ensure that its professionals are innovative, creative, positive-minded, service-oriented, curious, and researchers, which is why this type of event is promoted.
Among the calls made by the panelists to the attendees, the importance of using technology in the agricultural sector stood out, as it would improve conditions for this activity in the Sumapaz region and the country. “If we don't treat agriculture as a large enterprise, especially as a primary production activity, we won't achieve the same level of development,” emphasized Edgar Krejci Garzón, a guest panelist, in his presentation.
For his part, panelist César Vásquez asserted that “innovation and entrepreneurship are what differentiate a leader from the rest,” which is why he encouraged the attendees to work hard on projects that include the innovation component.
