Research Meeting between UNAL and UCundinamarca

At the Cercun facilities, the Research and Extension Directorate of the National University of Colombia, Bogotá Campus, and the Research Directorate of the University of Cundinamarca met to advance joint actions in the presentation, development, and execution of teaching, research, and extension projects, under the framework cooperation agreement signed by the two institutions.

The meeting also featured leading research groups from the University of Cundinamarca and the National University, fostering collaboration, formulating joint projects, coordinating ongoing work, and seeking alliances and synergies through working groups and poster presentations of UdeC projects in research across all areas of knowledge.

During the meeting, the director of the Research Directorate of the National University, Bogotá Campus, Dr. Jairo Alexis Rodríguez, presented the research call proposal to the teachers and researchers of Ucundinamarca, which is in the process of feedback and adjustment, and which will be improved according to the scope of the integration.

On the other hand, Dr. Jairo Alexis highlighted“The university has experience and a wealth of academic resources; moreover, the largest concentration of research in the country is at the National University. This is very important because the institution can drive the research management processes of the University of Cundinamarca. Likewise, this framework cooperation agreement is of great importance to the National University because the University of Cundinamarca is strengthening and growing in the department. It is a benchmark for the country, with a presence in seven provinces of Cundinamarca, which is why our institution wants to establish a presence in these regions with the University of Cundinamarca as an ally.”.

The meeting was attended by directors from both institutions, including the Rector of the University of Cundinamarca, Dr. Adriano Muñoz Barrera, and the Academic Vice-Rector, Orlando Blanco Zúñiga., The Director of University Research, José Zacarías Mayorga Sánchez and his team; from the National University there was the Director of Research, Bogotá Campus Dr. Jairo Alexis Rodríguez, also Dr. Betsy Cárdenas Riaño, Head of Research Division, Head of Extension and Transparency, Dr. Diego Torres, among others.

The outcome of the academic day is the beginning of joint research, as stated by the university's Director of University Research, Dr. José Zacarías: “A research system is being consolidated; the purpose of the framework cooperation agreement is opening this path of knowledge, to generate high-impact projects in the region; this meeting allows us to further strengthen these inter-institutional relationships and make research alliances, which is in line with one of the strategic fronts of our master plan, science, technology, research and innovation.”.

To enable research professors from both universities to effectively share their knowledge in different areas of knowledge and experiences in the development of their projects, spaces were created for talks on the training of researchers and the pedagogical foundation, and a poster exhibition carried out by the Research Groups of the University of Cundinamarca.

Finally, 8 working groups were formed with the participation of the 44 Research groups from the University of Cundinamarca and more than 100 research professors from the National University, that is, approximately 20 people per group, in disciplines such as: Engineering – Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Human Sciences, Administrative – Economic Sciences, Medicine, Zootechnics, Arts – Literature; which resulted in initial agreements for specific working meetings for the preparation of research project proposals in the 2016 call.
