Karate-Do wins silver medal in Ascun

Three young students from UCundinamarca: Sebastián Mora, Jorge Molina and Rafael Gómez made the podium at the XXVIII National University Games of Ascún in the Kata (forms) modality.

With outstanding combativeness and offensive tactics, the Karate-Do athletes from UCundinamarca won a silver medal in the university games after competing against the Metropolitan University of Barranquilla.

“This achievement is the result of the students” discipline, effort, and tenacity, as well as the financial support from Student Welfare to represent UCundinamarca in sporting events. We will continue preparing for the national competitions,” said Miguel Ciendua Salazar, the university’s Katate do coach.

The team made up of students Sebastián Mora Quiñones from the Chía extension, Jorge David Molina from the Fusagasugá campus, both from the business administration program, and Rafael Fernando Gómez from the Professional program in Sports Science and Physical Education, Soacha extension, won this time, and are preparing to participate in the National Games.

It is worth noting that students Sebastián and David are ranked fourth in the interleague competition, the most important National Games in the country, in the same modality, to be held in November in Cartagena, and are part of the kata team selection of the department of Cundinamarca.

For Sebastián Mora Quiñones, the medal he won at the games fills him with pride and joy, and he emphasizes that it encourages him to continue training in this sport, which he has practiced since childhood in his hometown of Cota. His hopes are set on winning the National Games.

The Ascun University Games run until September 30th with the participation of 133 universities from across the country, including both public and private institutions.
