Earth Day celebration at the U.

UCundinamarca joined the celebration of International Earth Day with awareness activities to encourage an environmentally friendly culture and the student community.

The purpose of this celebration was to strengthen the environmental awareness of the educational community, through good environmental practices, encouraging a culture of respect for the environment, within the framework of the environmental commitment acquired by the University through the Institutional Environmental Management System.

The celebration was aimed at students, teachers and administrative staff, who through the awareness workshop carried out the classification of waste in four containers identified with colored bags according to the GTC 024 standard, a criterion that describes the identification of solid waste.

“We are committed to all components of environmental management in all aspects that the branches and extensions bring together in their infrastructure, always focused on achieving certification in the ISO 14001 standard in its 2015 version, a document that certifies UCundinamarca in the care and protection of the environment based on sustainable development,” sJimmy Villalobos, Coordinator of the Environmental Management System, from the Fusagasugá headquarters.

It is worth noting that the university, in coordination with the SGA office of UCundinamarca, is advancing the dissemination of the objectives of the Environmental Management System.

“Currently, the system is conducting the Initial Environmental Review (IER) to determine the potential environmental impacts on water, soil, air, energy use, and pollution generated in the environment. Later, plans will be developed to counteract these potential impacts,” he added. Coordinator Villalobos.

The International Earth Day It has its origins in United Nations resolution 63/278 with the objective of achieving a fair balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations, and to promote harmony with nature and the Earth.
