Early Detection and Management of Primary Cancer

First week

The academic activity was carried out within the framework of the Health Week, of the Girardot Section.

As part of Health Week, the Nursing program, in cooperation with the SIMMON Foundation, led the first Continuing Education Workshop: “Early Detection and Management of Primary Cancer.” The event was attended by approximately 300 primary care professionals, nursing students, insurance companies, healthcare providers, and other professionals in the field.

The activity that took place last Monday, April 16, in the auditorium of the Girardot branch addressed integrated synergies for the improvement of cancer management, as well as topics on cancers prioritized in the ten-year plan, new technologies in cancer treatment, cancer care pathways (breast, prostate and gastric) and health technology assessment.

“At the SIMMON Foundation, together with the University of Cundinamarca, we want to expand the reach of these workshops to primary healthcare professionals in the department; considering that it is the primary healthcare professional who gives the greatest preventive focus to their medical actions, applies mass programs, and is the most active in resolving the basic problems that affect the community,”, Fany Paola Serrano Caicedo, Liaison Nurse of the SIMMON Foundation, highlighted this.
