The University Welfare Directorate of UCundinamarca, in conjunction with the Fusagasugá Health Secretariat, the Family and Social Integration Secretariat, the National Police, the Drug Committee, the Government Secretariat, municipal councilors, the Mental Health Representative of the Cundinamarca Governorate, and the La Luz Foundation, held the discussion: Psychoactive substance use: who is using whom?
This activity, which addressed the problem of drug use, was developed with the participation of six expert speakers on the subject of psychoactive substances.
Jeison David Manrique, director of Youth at the Secretariat of Family and Social Integration, addressed this topic with his youth group in the municipality of Fusagasugá.
The Youth Organization of the Platform “Self-Knowledge”, led by Juan Camilo Salamanca, discussed the work and participation that the organization has had in addressing this complex situation regarding the use of psychoactive substances in young people.
Juan Camilo Nieto Bolívar, representative of the ASANSER Organization “Sacred Order of the Golden Cross”, also spoke about the work that the organization has done to address this public health issue.
Superintendent Miguel Pérez of the Child and Adolescent Police presented the "Open Your Eyes" program. He explained prevention initiatives, structured with a pedagogical methodology focused on training leaders to promote principles and values as the fundamental basis of society.
The talk on awareness and rehabilitation was given by Jorge Aldana, clinical psychologist of the La Luz Foundation, and John Ramírez, Mental Health Representative of the Cundinamarca Government, spoke about evidence-based prevention of psychoactive substance use.
Patricia Otálora Umaña, Mental Health Representative of the Fusagasugá Health Secretariat, addressed the issue of notifications of real cases to SIVIGILA.
Councilors Gabriel Escobar and Luz Fany López also presented work done in their offices to address this problem.
The municipal Secretary of Health, Nancy Rocío Rojas Santamaría, spoke with attendees about the implementation of a prevention program in educational institutions. Alejandra Muñoz, Vulnerable Population Coordinator for the Fusagasugá Health Department, discussed homelessness as a consequence of psychoactive substance abuse.
Attendees had the opportunity to resolve concerns and make proposals. At the end, the different entities committed to joining efforts to mitigate this problem in the garden city for the benefit of the youth, children and girls of the city of Fusagasugá.
The event took place in the Emilio Sierra Baquero auditorium. It was well-attended by the educational community, including teachers and counselors from public and private schools, representatives from EPS and IPS health insurance providers, the San Rafael Hospital of Fusagasugá, and the Family Commissioner's Office.
