Data Protection Day at the Facatativá Extension

On October 3rd, a workshop was held with students, teachers and administrative staff, which aims to protect people's sensitive data, and in turn, create a culture of data protection.

Through fun contests and awards, the Systems and Technology Department of UCundinamarca held Data Protection Day at the Facatativá Extension, an event that sought to promote a culture of data protection among the different members of the University Community.

For Engineer Andrea Gaitán, it is vital that students, professors, and administrative staff know how to protect their personal information., “…according to Law 1581 of 2012, all persons can know, update and rectify the information that has been collected about them in the databases…, that is why we are implementing the whole issue of the authorization of personal data that appears to students on the Platform” the engineer stated.

“Remember that the institutional email is for personal use, only for academic and work purposes; every time we provide our data, we must fill out an authorization; in the case of the University it is only for mission-related, not commercial, purposes.”

Personal data must be protected by different entities, UCundinamarca is aware of this and for this reason established the Data Processing Policy of the Holders through Resolution 000050 of 2018.
