UCundinamarca mourns the death of a student

The rector, administrators, faculty, and fellow students extend their condolences and solidarity to his family and friends. We share in your grief.

For José Esteban Castellanos, who was one of her best friends since their first semester at the institution, her loss is immense. “I remember her as a very cheerful person, always in good spirits, who always motivated you to achieve your dreams and not settle for what you had.”.

He also highlights her as a very disciplined and affectionate person. “Even though we were in different fields with Samantha—I in organizational affairs and she in legal affairs—whenever we saw each other, she would always greet me warmly. I will never forget that.”.

Another quality she possessed, according to José Esteban, was her knack for sales. “Since she was good at it, many colleagues consulted her for advice on how to market their products. For example, she offered me some pins that some of my colleagues were selling. At first, I said no, but she was so skillful that I ended up buying them.“.

According to her boyfriend, Juan Sebastián Urquijo, with whom she had been in a relationship for three years, “she was a very cheerful, spontaneous, and sociable person. She had a very kind heart and loved animals. She also always championed women's rights and loved the university so much that she participated in every cultural event that was organized.”

Just as there are images that remind us of those who have passed away and their diverse experiences, in Samantha's case there are two in particular, according to Juan Sebastián. "She was a woman who loved sunflowers and had multicolored hair, which represented the joy and intensity with which she lived every minute.".

The UCundinamarca family will remember her with respect and affection.

Peace to the soul of student Ingrid Samantha Barreto.
