UCundinamarca joins the Nursing Now campaign

Administrators, teachers and students of the Nursing program at the Girardot branch joined the international campaign Nursing Now, whose objective is to highlight the capabilities of these professionals.

To create more job opportunities for nurses, promote research, and empower future professionals in this field, the University of Cundinamarca joined the Nursing Now program. The official launch took place at the Senate of the Republic. Representing the University were Mary Luz Monroy Rubiano, a nurse specializing in Pedagogy and Health Management, and holding a Master's degree in Maternal and Perinatal Nursing, and Carlota Castro Quinta, a nurse educator, leader of the Friendly Unit, and representative of the National Association of Nurses of Colombia (ANEC).

Through the activities surrounding the Nursing Now campaign, the teachers of the thematic units aimed to enhance the leadership of nurses in political and health organizations, improve the clinical resolution of nurses through the recognition of nursing competencies, strengthen the access of nurses to teaching positions at UCundinamarca, enhance nursing research by increasing its funding and promoting research units in care, and empower nurses in the design and implementation of technological tools.

“The goal of the international Nursing Now campaign is to highlight the capabilities of nursing professionals and the obstacles that hinder their development, to achieve greater participation in health policies at the national and global levels for decision-making; greater investment in education, professional development, better standards, regulation and employment conditions for nursing professionals, as well as having more nursing professionals in leadership positions and more development opportunities at all levels,” explained Professor Mary Luz Monroy Rubiano.
