Since 2016, the University of Cundinamarca has been a donor and promoter of the "Recycle to Heal" Project, through which the Sanar Foundation, a non-profit organization, raises funds for the comprehensive care of children and adolescents with cancer.

The goal is to collect plastic bottle caps in order to raise funds to finance medical, social and psychological support programs for children and adolescents with cancer and their families.

In the 2017 IPA, thanks to the Udecina community of the Girardot branch (administrators, teachers, students and the community in general), a total of 58.43Kg have been collected month by month, reflected as follows:

At the Girardot branch, there are six collection points for plastic bottle caps, located inside the University specifically in the Library, Cafeterias, Educational Aids, the photocopying center, the administrative building, and the water laboratory. The environmental management office collects and delivers the donations to Post Office 472, Municipality of Girardot – Address: Cra.11 # 18-06 Telecom Building, during business hours Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Kelly Yohana Ruiz Velásquez, leader of Environmental Management at the Girardot branch, explains the environmental responsibility and social commitment of the UCundinamarca Girardot branch:

We are currently inviting people to join this noble cause and collect as many plastic bottle caps as possible from any product, size, shape, and color to finance these treatments. All your contributions are very important; get involved and do your part to save lives.
