120 teachers and 468 secondary school students from educational institutions in the department of Cundinamarca will benefit from the framework agreement signed between the University of Cundinamarca and the Department of Education to develop the project called “Cundinamarca Bilingüe Learning More Together”, which has the purpose of improving the levels of English A1, A2 and/or B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

During the semester, seven English immersion programs will be developed, each lasting four days, for a total of 468 students benefiting according to the focus of the Cundinamarca Education Secretariat.
The first immersion in 2017 begins from July 21 to 24 at the old CERCUN complex, which is now a learning campus of the Institution, with the attendance of students from the Educational Institutions of the municipalities of Arbeláez, La Mesa and Tena.
English immersion programs will also be extended to the Soacha, Chía and Facatativá campuses.
The project will certify attendance and completion of English language training levels A1, A2, and/or B1. It will also conduct training workshops on English language teaching methodology for 120 teachers.
Students attending for 24 hours and four days will be immersed in English.
It should be noted that cultural events will be held to promote the use of the language, a song festival, the first spelling bee, among other activities.
It is worth noting that the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Political Science, the English Coordination of the Institution, and the Bilingualism Coordination of the Cundinamarca Department of Education are leading the Bilingual Learning More Together project, with the participation of teachers, UCundinamarca graduates and natives of New Zealand.
The signed agreement is part of the Cundinamarca Bilingüe program, a comprehensive ten-year strategy led by the Department of Education in partnership with Ucundinamarca that will improve the level of foreign language proficiency in the academic, pedagogical and strategic order.
