In order to promote the practice of English as a foreign language, students, teachers, graduates and external guests participated in the English Day, whose theme revolved around the English-speaking countries in the world, of which a gastronomic, historical and cultural exhibition was carried out through a fair with stands where the attending public participated and interacted with the student exhibitors.
The “English Day: World Englishes” has become a social outreach event of the Bachelor's Degree in Basic Education with Emphasis in Humanities: Spanish and English Language program, allowing the entire community to interact and share the culture of English-speaking countries, from food onwards.
The students showcased aspects such as history, geography, gastronomy, and cultural expressions of English-speaking countries such as Fiji, Sri Lanka, Grenada, Nigeria, South Africa, India, Trinidad and Tobago, and from Colombia, San Andrés Island.
Within the process of teaching and learning a foreign language, it is vitally important to create immersion environments where the student develops their communicative competence through constant interaction in real learning contexts.
