Cross-border dialogue with Mexico

Through community participation and with the purpose of identifying guidelines for the development of the Cundinamarca department and the Bajío region (Mexico), the macro-project for the development of inter-institutional research projects with relevance and regional impact between both countries emerges with the Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences.

The visiting professor at our institution is Virginia Susana Soto Hernández, a Certified Public Accountant and professor in the Department of Economic and Administrative Sciences at the Celaya Institute of Technology. She currently serves as the Accreditation Process Coordinator (a position by appointment) and is also the president of the department's faculty (a position elected by the faculty). She has 29 years of professional experience and 16 years of teaching experience.

Professor Soto Hernández's cross-border dialogue with the UCundinamarca educational community began on February 3rd at the Fusagasugá campus during the induction and re-induction meeting for program coordinators. The dialogue then continued during the week of February 4th-7th at the Girardot branch campus with Dr. Darío Benavides Pava, a professor in the Business Administration program, to establish topics for potential joint research projects.

“I have seen a university with a very humanistic vision and mission, aligned with current trends in higher education worldwide, with strong institutional processes, but above all, with a highly committed and enthusiastic team. Undoubtedly, one characteristic that distinguishes them and surprised me is the prevalence of dialogue as a strategy for participation and dissemination of university activities. I had the opportunity to attend a working session with administrative staff for the development of the 2020-2023 Development Plan, in which the rector, Adriano Muñoz Barrera, presented his plan and encouraged the expression of initiatives to be included in the document.”, Soto Hernández.

I also actively participate in the induction meetings for faculty and students of the Business Administration program, promoting international mobility and emphasizing the benefits for their personal and professional development, such as: reviewing and publishing articles, co-directing postgraduate theses, operating mirror classrooms, offering international seminars, and co-organizing academic events, among others.

Subsequently, from February 10 to 14, she visited the Ubaté branch, where she worked with Dr. Johanna Andrea Gil Palacios to finalize the proposal for a dual degree program in Business Administration at the Celaya Institute of Technology. The dual degree would apply to the newly registered curriculum for the Bachelor of Business Administration program, which, to date, has only been obtained by the Ubaté branch and the Fusagasugá campus, and involves the use of mirrored classrooms, virtual classrooms, and international exchange programs.

It is worth mentioning that on February 13, the Faculty Council of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences presented and approved the proposal for a double degree for the new curriculum of the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
