The idea was born the day Lina María Méndez, who lives in the town, went to look up a restaurant on her cell phone to order lunch. “I was incredibly surprised when I saw there was almost nothing in a municipality with 146,000 inhabitants! The only thing that came up was a well-known grill. So I thought: there’s an opportunity here.”.
And since she's pursuing her specialization with Sebastián Aldana and Valeria Castañeda, she didn't hesitate to invite them to embark on this challenge. "No platform has arrived in Facatativá, and restaurant owners haven't made any progress in digital marketing. That's why the idea is to bring them together on a single platform, which we decided to call True Food," she explains.
But how does it work? “In the first phase, we want to offer potential customers a space where they can advertise their restaurant, and also run digital marketing campaigns for them. We've already created a website for that. In the second phase, we'll launch an e-commerce platform so people can order from the comfort of their homes. We also hope that this platform will eventually become a space for entrepreneurs in this sector.”.
His idea is going very well. “The project is progressing very nicely and has received excellent feedback from professors who see a very bright future for it. We're currently focused on acquiring clients who can subscribe to a basic plan, which allows them to upload ten photos, the menu, and contact information. The premium plan includes the services I mentioned earlier, plus the ability to upload twenty photos, social media management, website ads, and ongoing technical support. We estimate that in two months the e-commerce platform will be up and running, and everyone using it will be able to rate the restaurant's service,” he explains.
However, if the client desires an additional service of professional photography of their dishes, we can provide it. “We produce thirty photos, digitize the menu, and create a QR code so that the client can immediately access our contact information, location, and the dishes we offer.”.
In this way, UCundinamarca supports the entrepreneurship of its students and graduates as a way to generate employment that helps the country's economic recovery.
