Call for young researchers and innovators

Addressed to:

Mechanism 1: Public Higher Education Institutions that have research, technological development and innovation groups recognized in Call 833 of 2018, interested in linking Young Undergraduate Researchers and recently graduated professionals to research, technological development and innovation (R&D&I) projects related to the thematic lines defined in numeral 3.

Mechanism 2: Companies and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) interested in linking Young Innovators, students in the productive stage of technical, technological careers, or students of professional careers in the practical stage through a SENA Learning Contract to technological development and innovation projects aligned with the thematic focuses of the Mission of Wise Men.

Objective

To create a pool of eligible proposals that allows the involvement of young Colombian researchers and innovators with technical, technological, undergraduate and recently graduated professional backgrounds; to support the development of research, technological development and innovation (R&D&I) projects.

Who can participate?

  • Companies in the consolidation stage: Companies in which it is not possible to grow their core products and services.
  • Growth-stage companies: Companies that have recently achieved financial stability and are expanding.
  • Large companies In accordance with the provisions of Decree 957 of June 2019
  • Large companies Company with a staff of more than two hundred (200) workers or with assets exceeding thirty thousand (30,000) SMMLV.
  • Educational institutions: A group of people and assets promoted by public authorities or private individuals, whose purpose is to provide at least one year of preschool education and nine grades of basic education, and secondary education.
  • University institutions or technological schools Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that have the legal capacity to develop professional technical programs, technological programs, professional programs, professional technical specializations, technological specializations and/or professional specializations.
  • Medium-sized Enterprise In accordance with the provisions of Decree 957 of June 2019
  • Medium-sized companies Company with a staff of between fifty-one (51) and two hundred (200) workers or with assets between five thousand one (5,001) to thirty thousand (30,000) SMMLV.
  • Microenterprise In accordance with the provisions of Decree 957 of June 2019
  • Microenterprises Companies with a staff of no more than ten (10) workers or with assets less than five hundred (500) SMMLV (excluding housing).
  • Small Business In accordance with the provisions of Decree 957 of June 2019
  • Small businesses Companies with a staff of between eleven (11) and fifty (50) workers or with assets between five hundred and one (501) and less than five thousand (5,000) SMMLV.
  • Universities Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that have the legal capacity to develop professional technical programs, technological programs, professional programs, professional technical specializations, technological specializations, professional specializations, and master's and doctoral degrees.

Minimum requirements to participate

Remember that all the requirements are found in the terms of reference document.

  • Only one (1) proposal per entity will be allowed. Applications submitted by location will not be considered.
  • Each entity may nominate up to ten (10) research groups recognized in Call 833 of 2018, per group one (1) project may be submitted to which two (2) Young Researchers must be linked (one undergraduate and one professional).
  • Applicant entities must guarantee that the R&D&I projects have funding and execution time that guarantees the involvement of Young Researchers for at least twelve (12) months.
  • Higher Education Institutions and Companies must ensure that they have the available quota for the linking of young innovators through SENA Apprenticeship Contract (Compiled in the Single Regulatory Decree 1072 of 2015 of Decree 1779 of 2009)6, which will allow them to develop their skills and capacities as innovators by applying the methodology of “learning – doing” through a work plan.
  • Higher Education Institutions and applicant companies must guarantee that they have a technological development and innovation project to which young innovators with technical, technological or professional training will be linked as active subjects in the projects with defined responsibilities.
  • Young Innovators must have an assigned tutor belonging to the entity that endorses them.
  • The entity must deliver: A final technical report of the activities carried out and the results obtained within the framework of the technological development and innovation project, as well as a financial report of the execution of the SENA Apprenticeship Contract.
  • Applicant organizations must nominate a minimum of three (3) young innovators per project. These young people may be technicians, technologists, or students in professional programs. There is no limit to the number of young people per project.
