Commitment to transparency and integrity

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

Under the leadership of the Planning Directorate, the Fusagasugá campus was the setting for the fourth Awareness Day on Transparency and University Integrity, a space in which more than 230 members of the university community reflected on the importance of acting with honesty, ethics and institutional commitment.

At the end of the day, the Director of Institutional Planning, Adriana Asención Torres Espitia, emphasized that “integrity is an essential value in the daily life of our university. The outcome is very positive; there was great participation from approximately 250 people, including Knowledge Managers, administrative staff from all campuses and extensions, and strong support from senior management. Through our Anti-Bribery Management System, we promote practices that strengthen public morality and institutional transparency.”.

The experience included the participation of Dr. William Ospino Díaz-Granados, delegate of the Transparency Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, who explained that this organization works on the formulation and training of public policies on transparency, access to information and the fight against corruption.

“The fight against corruption doesn’t depend solely on institutions; it involves all citizens. Spaces like this help empower people, giving them the tools to act and knowing where to go to report it,” Ospino pointed out, adding that he also encouraged sharing the information, since “word of mouth is key to building collective awareness.”.

For his part, César Bernal Silva, Internal Control Manager, valued the day as a crucial opportunity to adjust internal processes to national regulations, highlighting the importance of following clear guidelines from the National Government and applying them ethically and coherently.

This event is part of the 2024–2027 Institutional Development Plan, “Multidimensional Learning Field (CMA)”, which promotes a culture of transparent, participatory management aligned with good corporate governance practices.
